VoNR (Voice over New Radio), also known as Voice over 5G (Vo5G), enables speech services over 5G networks and will replace traditional voice services (such as circuit-switched and VoLTE) due to its efficiency and reliability.
VoNR uses 5G SA technology similar to data transmission and provides high-quality voice services with low latency. While VoNR has many similarities to VoLTE, such as utilizing the IMS with SIP-based Signaling for Registration and Call Setup procedures as well as encoding voice packets into RTP protocol, it differs in terms of 5G RAN features, a flow-based QoS and Always-On PDU.
